TangoBC has been selected for the second consecutive year to participate at the International Argentine Tango World Championship and Festival, in San Francisco 2017/2018 (California), and at the Argentine Tango Festival Red Carpet Las Vegas 2017/2018
TangoBC released two full-length albums. In 2017 they were awarded a grant by the INAMU (National Institute of Music) in Argentina, for the edition of the second album “BC Trio Milonguero”.
TangoBC have also been winners of the Notable Bars contest organized by the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires to be part of the concert schedule of Notable Bars 2018.
Argentine Pianist Mariano Barreiro now based in San Francisco (California) is one of the foremost new generation tango pianists in tango today. Having performed and recorded with some of the best tango musicians in the world, including Horacio Romo (Leopoldo Federico), Pablo Agri (Piazzolla), Horacio Cabarcos (Anibal Troilo), singer Juan Villarreal (El Arranque Orchestra) and more. His current ensemble “Mariano Barreiro Tango Trío” features Hector Pineda (Bassist from “Forever Tango”) and Charles Gorczynski (Bandoneon and Director of Redwood Tango Ensemble). Mariano studied Tango and Folklore with Latin Grammy award-winning pianist Nicolas Ledesma, at the prestigious Manuel de Falla Conservatory in Buenos Aires. He also studied jazz with Santiago Giacobbe, pianist for the iconic bandoneonist Astor Piazzolla.
Born in Buenos Aires in 1988. He is a guitarist, arranger, composer and teacher of tango and folklore. He studied guitar with great masters of tango, folklore and jazz such as Cesar Angeleri, Armando de la Vega (Pablo Ziegler, Rodolfo Mederos), Pablo Bobrowicky (Chair of Jazz in the EMPA), Esteban Morgado (Esteban Morgado Quartet) and Nestor Gómez (Chango Farias Gomez, Fourth Element). He studied arrangements and harmony with maestro Lito Valle (Mariano Mores, Estela Raval, Director of the Municipal Band of Buenos Aires), the great violinist Ramiro Gallo and the great pianist Nicolás Ledesma (Grammy winner for best tango album) He toured Europe and North America giving concerts in theaters and milongas.
Some notable shows are at the Tangopostale Festival of Toulouse (France), Festival of the 5 continents (Switzerland), Tango Festival of Montreal (Canada), Tampere Tango Festival (Finland), Tango Festival of Buenos Aires (Argentina) ) for 3 consecutive years and milongas in Russia and Germany among others.
The Argentine Hector Pineda is an in-demand and highly recognized tango contrabass player in the United States.
Hector has accompanied and recorded with some of the most important tango musicians of all time including Roberto Goyeneche, Roberto Rufino, Raul Lavie (Tango Argentino), Jose Angel Trelles (Piazzolla), Ranko Fujisawa, and more.
Hector has played for many major Tango Festivals in the USA and has accompanied master dancers like Juan Carlos Copes & Maria Nieves, Nelida & Nelson, and many others.
Currently, and for the last 10 years, Hector is performing and touring with “Forever Tango” the hit show created and directed by Luis Bravo.
Bandoneonist and leader of the acclaimed bay area sextet Redwood Tango Ensemble, Charles Gorczynski is known as a contemporary tango composer and is recognized by his Argentine colleagues as one of the best bandoneonists in the US. His works have been premiered with Chamber Music Northwest Summer Festival in Portland, and he was recently commissioned for several new tango works by Intermusic SF. Charles has toured for milongas and concerts in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Rome, Pisa, and worked as bandoneonist for Alejandro Ziegler Quartet, Tango BC Trio, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, and California Symphony.
